West Georgia Technical College

Recruiting for a Vice President, Student Affairs

West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) sought a visionary Vice President of Student Affairs during a pivotal leadership transition. The previous leader had served for more than 30 years, creating an opportunity and a challenge for the college to reimagine the future of student experience, enrollment strategy, and support services.

The Challenge

The college’s rural location added another layer of complexity, often narrowing the talent pool of seasoned student affairs leaders who were open to relocation. As this was Another Source’s first engagement with WGTC, initiated after meeting the President at the AACC Conference, it was essential to deliver strong results and establish a foundation for a long-term partnership.

WGTC needed a leader capable of navigating change, enhancing student engagement, and strengthening services across admissions, financial aid, student life, support programs, and Title IX, all within a competitive hiring landscape.

The Solution

Another Source partnered with WGTC to develop a targeted, proactive sourcing strategy that emphasized both the leadership opportunity and the quality of life offered in Carrollton, Georgia.
Our approach included:

  • Highlighting the unique chance to bring fresh vision to a division that had been led by one individual for more than three decades.
  • Crafting messaging that showcased Carrollton’s balance of small-town charm, affordability, and proximity to Atlanta.
  • Engaging higher education leaders with backgrounds in strategic enrollment, student success, and division-level leadership.
  • Using national outreach to attract candidates who might not typically consider rural Georgia but who were motivated by mission, impact, or lifestyle fit.

This strategy produced a solid pipeline of professionals who aligned with WGTC’s needs and were prepared to lead a division in a period of transition and renewal.

The Result

Through this partnership:

  • A total of 71 candidates entered the process.
  • 15 highly qualified candidates were presented to the hiring committee.

The candidate pool included professionals experienced in enrollment management, student services leadership, Title IX oversight, technology-driven service improvements, and multi-campus operations.

By focusing on vision, opportunity, and impact rather than geography, Another Source delivered a strong slate of candidates capable of shaping the future of student affairs at WGTC. This successful engagement also demonstrated our ability to support institutions in rural or hard-to-recruit regions and helped establish a positive start to our relationship with the college.
