Recruiting for Higher Education Business Affairs
“Working with Another Source feels so connected, like you are an add-on to our own HR department. It’s great that you can answer questions from candidates on our behalf and save us so much time.” – Kara Perkins, Associate Vice President for Budget & Administration
Long Beach State University was hiring for an Associate Vice President for Financial Management. This role would be responsible for administering the financial operations of the University.
The Challenge
The previous person in the AVP role had been promoted internally and was well respected across the University and by their direct report. Because of this, there were big shoes to fill, and it was important to stay at a high level of service to the campus while recruiting for this role. The incumbent needed to have both accounting skills and strategic thinking and leadership skills in order to make an impact on their team and the University as a whole.
The Solution
Through partnership with Another Source, the hiring team was able to hand off the time-consuming aspects of recruiting and utilize a customized strategy for filling this role. By pre-screening all applicants, we were able to provide regular feedback to the hiring team about the state of the market and what we were seeing in the candidate pool.
The Result
We were able to deliver a qualified candidate pool to the hiring team, out of which they interviewed finalists, selected a top candidate and made an offer of employment. Says Kara Perkins, Associate Vice President for Budget & Administration, “Working with Another Source feels so connected, like you are an add-on to our own HR department. It’s great that you can answer questions from candidates on our behalf and save us so much time.”
