Inside the Role: A Conversation with Another Source Talent Strategist, Kelly Roseburg

Every successful recruitment strategy is driven by the people behind the scenes who ensure the right talent meets the right opportunities. At Another Source, our Talent Strategists play a pivotal role in connecting clients with exceptional candidates. Today, we’re excited to spotlight, Kelly Roseburg, a Senior Talent Strategist, to learn more about her work style, preferences, and what drives her passion for recruitment.

Q: What does a typical morning look like for you as a Senior Talent Strategist? Do you have any routines that help set the tone for your day?

A: My mornings usually start with checking in on open searches, making sure everything is on track. I’ll check emails and Teams messages, then take a look at candidate pipelines to prioritize where I need to focus first. I also check in with my teammate, who is the other half of my “pod,” to see where we’re at and plan where support is needed. Having that initial overview sets the tone for a productive day and helps me feel grounded before diving into deeper work like sourcing or client calls. A little coffee doesn’t hurt either!

Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your role as a Senior Talent Strategist?

A: The most rewarding part is successfully filling those tough, highly specialized roles. Especially when we’ve been searching for just the right combination of experience, skills, and alignment with the client’s culture. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that our effort and persistence paid off, and that both the client and the candidate feel like it was the right match. I also find a lot of purpose in leading my pod. Coaching and collaborating with my teammate to problem-solve and move searches forward is something I really enjoy. It’s a shared success when we close a search, and that sense of partnership is a big part of what keeps me motivated.

Q: Recruitment is fast-paced and demanding. What are barriers that you are overcoming on a daily basis when building talent pools for your clients?

A: One of the biggest barriers is when clients are looking for candidates with extremely specific qualifications, sometimes referred to as “unicorns.” It can be challenging to build a diverse and qualified pool that checks every single box. But that’s also where the strategy comes in, getting creative with sourcing, looking at transferable skills, and really understanding the client’s must-haves versus nice-to-haves. It’s a balance of managing expectations while doing everything I can to uncover top talent and present strong options.

Q: What’s your favorite part about working at Another Source? How does the team culture contribute to your success?

A: My favorite part about working at Another Source is the team. Everyone is genuinely supportive and willing to jump in to help when needed. We’re all working toward the same goal, and that shared purpose really creates a sense of unity. The culture here encourages collaboration, learning, and celebrating each other’s wins, which makes it easier to stay motivated and do your best work. It’s a place where you’re seen, heard, and appreciated.

Q: When working with clients, how do you approach understanding their unique hiring needs and organizational culture?

A: It starts with listening to what the client shares about the role, the team dynamic, and their broader goals. I focus on moving beyond the job description to uncover what success truly looks like in the position. It’s about understanding the soft skills, team fit, and long-term vision as much as the technical requirements. Over time, building that relationship allows me to anticipate their needs more easily and shape our search strategy in a way that reflects both what they’re asking for and what they genuinely need to grow their team.

Q: Can you share a memorable story of matching a candidate with a role and the impact it had on both the candidate and the client?

A: One that stands out is a role where the client was searching for a “unicorn” — someone with a really rare mix of experience, skills, and cultural fit. It was the kind of search where expectations were high and the candidate pool was tight. After some creative sourcing and a lot of digging, I found someone who not only met the qualifications but also aligned perfectly with the team’s dynamic. The client was thrilled, and the candidate was just as excited. They felt truly heard and valued in the process. That match ended up being a win on both sides, and it reminded me why this work matters.

Q: What do you think is the key to building strong, lasting relationships with clients?

A: Consistency, communication, and trust. I focus on being responsive, transparent, and solution-oriented, so clients know they can rely on me. It’s about showing up, delivering results, and being honest when things are tough or need to shift. Over time, that creates a real partnership where the client sees you as an extension of their team, not just a vendor. And when that trust is there, everything runs more smoothly, from kickoff to final hire.
